Affordable and Clean Energy
What does the Bible teach?
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good. (Genesis 1:1-4a)
Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided. (Exodus 14:21)
What should we pray for?
For people in the world who have access to energy – may we always be good stewards of the resources entrusted to us. May we never be wasteful or arrogant by consuming more than needed.
For those who cannot access enough power for their basic needs. That they get also access to clean energy.
For those who are working to develop and implement sustainable sources of energy – may they have insight and wisdom to develop solutions which benefit the poorest members of society.
For decision-makers in politics and economy – That they get insight into the necessity of renewable energies and act accordingly.
What can we do?
Green Electricity: Find out about local green electricity producers and suppliers. Switch to them and get green electricity.
Transport: Drive less and use environmentally friendly alternatives (train, bike, bus).
Saving Energy: Turn off lights and appliances when not in use. When it gets colder: Ventilate for five minutes with the windows fully open instead of tilting the windows for a longer period of time.
