Clean Water and Sanitation
What does the Bible teach?
The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the Lord will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them. I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs. (Isaiah 41:17-18)
What should we pray for?
For the ongoing work of water and sanitation programmes – ensuring safety, health and development. Also for the finances of ongoing these projects in areas of need, drought, conflict and natural disaster relief.
For those without access to clean water and sanitation – that they will be replenished and no longer have to fear sickness and death that accompany this issue.
For improved water resource management – that water will be wisely used and not wasted.
What can we do?
Microplastics: When buying products such as detergents, soap or cosmetics, make sure that they contain no microplastics or similar harmful substances. Stand up for a ban on microplastics in all consumer goods.
Tap water: Drink tap water instead of store-bought water.
Shopping: Do not support corporations that use water from dry areas for their products.
