Good Health and Well-Being
What does the Bible teach?
By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done. (Genesis 2:2-3)
Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and illness among the people. (Matthew 4:23)
What should we pray for?
For compassion for the people around us. May we be aware of health issues both physical and mental. When we can provide assistance, may we do so, and may we always be concerned with the health and wellness of ourselves and others.
For health care facilities to be developed, particularly in places where they are currently lacking. May there be a willingness to implement the best care possible in all communities.
For people working in the health sector: that they are trained well, get fair payment and appreciation for their work.
What can we do?
Fitness: Use stairs instead of elevators, bicycles instead of cars, scythes instead of lawnmowers, shops instead of online shops: keep yourself fit and your environment clean.
Caring: Call someone of your friends or family and ask how they are doing at the moment.
Greening: Campaign for more green space in your city and get involved in enriching your neighborhood with vegetation to prevent overheating and the associated health hazards caused by climate change.
