SDG 2 – Prayer Wall

Zero Hunger

What does the Bible teach?
Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter – when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? (Isajah 58:6-7)

What should we pray for?
For a spirit of gratitude to be in those who have plentiful and nutritious food to eat; we thank God for a sufficient food supply in many areas of the world.
For the hundreds millions of children who did not receive the proper nutrition within their first 1000 days of life. That this detrimental nutritional defiency among children ends.
For vision, optimism and wisdom for those with the power and influence to make the distribution of food fairer. May we see an end to hunger. May those working to improve people’s lives experience a sense of hope and a determination to continue.

What can we do?
Sufficiency: Buy only as much groceries as you can eat. This is how you avoid food waste.
Less Meat: Gradually reduce your meat consumption and try vegetarian or vegan variations more often.
Local Products: Buy regional products and support local agriculture.
