Quality Education
What does the Bible teach?
Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. (Deuteronomy 11:18-19)
What should we pray for?
For all educators, headteachers/principals, administrators, school caretakers, cooks and coaches and others who help us to gain education. Ask that God would give them strength, wisdom and rest.
For those who do not have access to the education they need, whether that is basic primary education, vocational knowledge or academic studies. May they get access to the opportunities they need in order to progress and to lead fulfilling lives.
For parents in poverty not to be forced to choose between sending their children to school or sending them to work to enable their family to survive.
For girls, that their education will be valued just as greatly as boys‘ education.
For you, that God would reveal areas in your life where you may seek greater understanding of his creation. Pray that he would give you wisdom.
What can we do?
Tutoring: Volunteer as a tutor for students and/or refugees. Good education supports their future prospects.
Participation: Look for opportunities to get actively involved in the local school, for example by working in the parents‘ association or student council.
Sponsoring: Sponsor children in the Global South. This gives them the opportunity to go to school.
