SDG 14 – Prayer Wall

Life Below Water

What does the Bible teach?
And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good. (Genesis 1:9-10)
„Oh, look—the deep, wide sea, brimming with fish past counting, sardines and sharks and salmon. Ships plow those waters, and Leviathan, Your pet dragon, romps in them. (Psalm 124:25-26, The Message)

What should we pray for?
For the amazing diversity of the marine world God created.
For mindfulness of our impact on the oceans at all times. May we strive to choose the better, more sustainable option even if it requires more effort or expense.
For those involved in technology and research: That their efforts, together with our personal choices have positive and not negative effects on marine resources.
For those with responsibility – leaders, businesses, communities: That they implement policies in order to protect the ocean and its inhabitants.

What can we do?
Eating: Be careful when buying and eating seafood and fish: Avoid overfished species.
Plastic: Try to limit your plastic consumption: Avoid plastic bottles and cosmetics containing microplastic. Have you ever tried solid shampoo?
Transport: Avoid products with long production and delivery routes via sea routes in large container ships.
